With the receding of the COVID-19 pandemic and millions of people being forced to spend long periods in their homes, many studies have shown a close link between connecting with nature, mental health, and stress levels. It has been found that the natural environment contributes significantly to improving mental well-being and reducing stress levels, which enhances the need to integrate elements of nature into living spaces.
This new awareness of the links between nature and mental health has become a strong motivator for rethinking home designs, as many seek to incorporate natural elements into their interior decor to achieve a balance between physical comfort and psychological well-being.
In this context, Maana Abudaqa, CEO of Ebarza for furniture and design, speaks to us and highlights the idea of integrating elements of nature into living spaces to create an environment that combines comfort and elegance, while enhancing the connection to nature to improve the quality of life at home, saying: The theory of "letting the outer nature permeate your inner space," which was adopted by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright at the beginning of the last century, was widely popular at the time, but it was quickly ignored by most designers due to the speed in design and execution demanded by the post-modern era and people being occupied with their work most of the time, which led residential spaces to turn into closed boxes devoid of soul. The COVID-19 pandemic played an important role in reminding people of the importance of this theory and the importance of nature playing a role in our space, whether by integrating natural elements, shapes, or materials, or those inspired by nature. Studies have also shown that this integration not only improves the aesthetics of the place but also contributes to reducing stress levels and enhances the feeling of well-being.
In response to these trends, Ebarza has developed a range of innovative solutions for the living room, as this room is considered the most used and most exposed to clutter. The solutions included multi-functional furniture such as tables with storage drawers and open shelves, and sofas with hidden storage spaces, which helps organize the space and enhance comfort and tranquility. The company also launched a range of solutions for wall cladding and TV units that add a touch of luxury and spaciousness, while providing hidden storage units. The claddings have been designed to be able to bend at the corners, which adds fluidity and naturalness to the space. The claddings were distinguished by the use of stone, marble, or marble alternatives in their raw, unpolished form, which enhances the sense of belonging to nature.
In addition, Ebarza seeks to improve mental health by introducing plants and green elements into designs, and the company has introduced an exclusive collection of handmade plants and trees, including olive trees with distinctive colors and trunks.
He added that despite the hot weather in the country for most of the year, we sought to design electric fireplaces that mimic wooden fireplaces to add a touch of warmth and romance to the rooms. These fireplaces can be used as decor on the main wall or as an element to divide spaces, and feature options for voice control of light intensity and flame type and color. He further added that regular geometric shapes such as rectangles, circles, and squares have dominated rug designs for many centuries, making it necessary to rethink this traditional approach. As part of our strategy aimed at returning to nature and introducing new elements, we launched an innovative collection of rugs with irregular shapes made of natural materials. These designs are not only a visual renewal but also reflect our connection to the natural environment. Among the features of our new collection, we offer a range of wall rugs that can be hung on walls. These pieces provide an additional sense of warmth and act as a sound insulator, making them ideal for improving sound quality in spaces and enhancing visual comfort. Regarding wall decor, we are proud to introduce a brand new collection of ideas and materials, mostly made of natural or recycled materials, characterized by their flowing natural shapes and natural earthy colors that work together to add a touch of luxury and authenticity.
To complete the interior design experience, Ebarza launched its exclusive collection of home fragrances and incense burners made from natural essential oils, which transport the user to a forest atmosphere, such as scents of lemon, sandalwood, and oud.
All these design innovations and more reflect our commitment to redefining the concept of beauty and functionality in interior decor, while maintaining a close connection to nature and achieving a balance between elegance, comfort, and sustainability.
